
Nearly a year after Shiba Russell left NewsCenter5 for New York City, the popular weekender is reportedly on her way up the ranks. According to TVSpy, WNBC is sending longtime frontliner Sue Simmons out the door with a non-renewal, which opens the door for Russell to helm the station’s flagship broadcast.
In today’s New York Post, a controversial cartoon depicting Simmons, Russell, and the NBC peacock appearered. Simmons, made infamous in a viral video that made the rounds two years ago, is shown on her knees pleading for her job, while Russell can be seen in the background.
With the recent news of NBC canning Sue Simmons… Twitter hashtag #SaveSueSimmons and Facebook petition “Save Sue Simmons” have since been started… in hopes of saving the job of the long-time WNBC anchor, and Sue being allowed to retire on her own terms.
