7 Summons Sarah

7 News has brought in a fresh face to their weekend evening newscasts. 7 has finally replaced weekender Dave Kartunen, who left the station earlier this year.  Sarah French, most recently a morning anchor at ex-’LVI sister station WTIC in Hartford, departed the Tribune outlet for Boston.  This signals the end of months of speculation noted by our friends at The Laurel.

WTIC, the station that brought Connecticut such journalistic highlights such as “Big Boob Fridays,” is shuffling around their anchor lineups in the wake of her departure.  Lead anchor Ericka Arias is headed to the morning shift, and current weekend anchor Alison Morris will take over duties at 10 and 11.

Still no word from ‘HDH brass about the anchor slot open at 4 and 5:30.

BREAKING: Lamberty Named Rivera Replacement

Reid Lamberty has been named anchor of 7 News at 5, 6, and 11 p.m.  Lamberty comes to 7 from WSVN in Miami, where he has been since May 2010.  Prior to that, he had been a morning anchor at WNYW in New York City.

Lamberty had been spotted auditioning for the main gig a few weeks ago, but Sunbeam brass made it official this evening.  He will begin anchoring on Monday afternoon.  However, still no word on who will anchor in Matt Lorch’s place.

Hat tip to astute reader Edward R. Murrow, who broke the news nearly two hours before the Globe.
