Update: After talking with Kartunen, btvn has learned that the anchor and the station signed a severance agreement on Friday. The split comes shortly after Kartunen received his MBA. For the time being, he remarked, he hopes to ramp up his teaching responsibilities at Boston University, where he has been involved since late 2010.
It has appeared that 7 News weekend evening Dave Kartunen has left WHDH. His bio has been removed from the station’s website, and he has not been on air recently. No word yet on what caused the split, but btvn has submitted an inquiry for comment. If you may recall, Kartunen joined 7 in 2009 from sister-station WSVN.
This move now leaves 7 without a dedicated weekend-evening anchor team. As we reported earlier, former-weekend anchor Amanda Grace was promoted to be the third anchor for the weekday morning edition of Today in New England.
